Mildred Lampley Bennett

Mildred Louise Lampley Bennett, 93, of Rockingham, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Hospice Haven of Rockingham. Mrs. Bennett was born April 24, 1917 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Walter “Watt” and Annie Biggs Lampley. She had attended Harvest Ministries and had retired from JP Stevens Company. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Caulder, Margaret Dawkins, Ruth Watts, and Ida Ingram and brothers, Grover and McKinnon Lampley. Surviving are her daughters, Martha Jean Bass of Statesville, Mary Ruth Lassiter of Rockingham;6 grandchildren;15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and a brother, Walter Lampley of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Annie Mae Sproles and Rev. Ken Benoist officiating. Interment will follow in Northam Cemetery. The family will see friends from 1:30 – 2:30 pm Sunday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at her home.
