Ada Pusser Dewitt

Ada Pusser Dewitt, 92, of 333 Jimmy Carriker Rd. Ellerbe died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Kingswood Nursing Center in Southern Pines. Mrs. Dewitt was born June 5, 1914 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Wade Hamilton and Cora Godwin Pusser. She was a member of First Baptist Church Ellerbe where she worked with the Shut-in extension and was a homemaker. Mrs. Dewitt loved her flowers and enjoyed teaching about different flowers to her family, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gary Dewitt in 1972 and sons Harry and Larry Dewitt in 1942 and a grandson Guy Dewitt in 1999. Surviving are her children, Anne and Raymond Lomax of Jackson Springs, John and Mable Dewitt of Barney, Ga., Jeannette and Hap Carr of Clemson, SC, Edward and Marie Dewitt of Ellerbe, david and Susan Dewitt of Ellerbe, Phillip and Jean Dewitt of Madison, Fl., Steve and Hazel Dewitt of Lexington, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at First Baptist Church in Ellerbe with Rev. James Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home on Jimmy Carriker Rd. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 8, Ellerbe, NC 28338 or to the Baptist Children’s Home, PO Box 338 Thomasville NC 27360. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Kingswood Nursing Center for their kindness and compassion during Mrs. Dewitts time there.
