Howard Vuncannon

John Howard Vuncannon, 92, of 460 Page Street Ext., Ellerbe died Sunday, January 28th at his home. He was born June 29, 1914 in Montgomery Co., a son of the late Malcolm Remus and Ethel Lassiter Vuncannon. Mr. Vuncannon was a member of First Baptist Church in Ellerbe. He was a retired farmer, and was, also, formerly employed with Commonwealth Hosiery in Ellerbe and Chisholm Construction Co. in Rockingham. Mr. Vuncannon was a veteran, having served in the U. S. Army. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 31st at First Baptist Church in Ellerbe with Rev. Dr. Jim Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mary Rhyne Vuncannon of the home; a sister, Reba Ann Moser of Mint Hill; and a brother, Larry Voncannon of Monroe. He was preceded in death by brothers, Millard Clayton Vuncannon, Samuel Holden Vuncannon, William Ralph Vuncannon, and Malcolm Elwen Vuncannon, and a sister. Ethleen V. White. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe.
