Ruth Goodson

Mrs. Helen Ruth Davis Goodson, 57, of 120 Seaboard St. Rockingham, died Thursday, February 15, 2007 at her home following a short battle with cancer. Mrs. Goodson was born October 13, 1949 in Richmond County, NC a daughter of Mary Helen Hudson Davis and the late Roscoe Davis, Jr. . She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, had retired from Sara Lee Hosiery and worked with Dollar General Stores in Hamlet until her diagnosis with cancer. Ruth was an inspiration to others even thru her illness she was more concerned with others than herself. Surviving are her sons, Darrell Goodson and wife Cristy, David Goodson and companion Jamie Carpenter, all of Rockingham, her mother, Mary Helen Davis of Rockingham, her brother, Donald Davis and wife Betty of Cordova, her sisters, Kay Smith and husband Larry , Linda Parker, all of Rockingham, Dianne Puckett and husband Brian of Ellerbe and grandchildren, Heather and Meagan Goodson, DJ Goodson, all of Rockingham, Hannah Goodson of Wadesboro, Jamie’s daughter, Madison and special friend Sammie Tanner. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Corey Wilson and Rev. Wayne Richardson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum The family will see friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at her mothers home 110 Alsace St. Rockingham.
