Marjorie Rankin McInnis

Mrs. Marjorie Rankin McInnis, 86, of Norman, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. She was born January 27, 1921 in Derby, NC, the second of nine children of the late Robert Moore and Frankie Thompson Rankin. She was known for her warm and inviting home, and her delight at having guests at her table. Mrs. McInnis loved the outdoors, gardening and working along with her husband on their family farm. She has been a longtime member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church and was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1938. She is survived by Pratt Alexander McInnis, her loving husband of 65 years. Also surviving are their children, Carolyn Lovin and husband Mac of Hamlet, Danny McInnis and wife Glenda of Norman, and Beth McInnis of Ridgewood, NJ. She was the loving grandmother of Lisa Robinson, Jeffrey Lovin, Mac Lovin, Tracey Novick, Dan McInnis and Kelly Sears; great grandmother of Courtney Smith, Alex and McLean Lovin, Trey McInnis, Emily Novick and Jamie Kay Sears; and, great-great-grandmother of Alexis Locklear; her sister and brothers, Jacqueline Elam of Mint Hill, Dolph Rankin of Ellerbe, George Rankin of Rockingham, and Mac Rankin of Montgomery, AL. She is also survived by her caregivers and extended family: Linda Seagraves, Vickie Greene, Teresa Graham and Deanna Thompson. Her sisters, Ellen Nelson, Edna Robbins, Olive Snyder, and brother, Bob Rankin, preceded her in death. Mrs. McInnis will be remembered by many nieces and nephews who she nurtured and loved, as well as people who grew up in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church who knew her as “Miss Margie”, their Sunday School teacher. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Alexander and Rev. Edsel Huffstetler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home on County Line Road. Memorials may be made to Mt.
