Harriett Popowich

Mrs. Harriett Rainwater Popowich 71, of 1824 U.S Hwy 1 South Rockingham died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Britthaven of Hamlet. Mrs. Popowich was born in January 8, 1936 a daughter of the late Lee and Alice Holder Rainwater. She was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist. She also served her country in the U.S. Air Force where she met and married her late husband Steve Popowich. She graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a B.S. Degree. She retired from Cameron Morrison Correctional Institution as a correction officer. She is survived by one son Steve Popowich of Rockingham and two daughters Sheryl Bodnar of Lisle New York and Debbie Popowich of Rockingham; one brother Archie Rainwater of Rockingham and two sisters Becky Dukes of Rockingham and Joyce Griffin of Aberdeen; and six Grandchildren John and Jami Popowich, Roch and Eva Bodnar and Jerrica and Layla Smith. Funeral services will be held Friday March 9, 2007 at St. Paul United Methodist Church at 2:00pm with Rev. Randy Blanchard and Lay Minister James Hinson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham from 6:00-8:00 and at other times at the home.
