John retired from Avondale Mills as their plant engineer after 45 years of service. He was an invaluable employee who could be found any time of the day or night making sure that the plant operations went smoothly. John was known as a very generous person with his talents and could always be counted on to help others. His favorite pastime was spending time at his farm, tinkering in his shop, picking up pecans, tending to his garden and petting his farm dog, Maggie. John was a long time member of East Rockingham United Methodist Church, serving on several committees. One could always find him volunteering at the pancake breakfast and helping to sell trees at Christmas time. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham John will be sorely missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to give special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at First Health Richmond Memorial and Sandhills Hospitals for the heartfelt care provided for our Daddy.
