Margaret Long

Mrs. Margaret Dawkins Long, 88, of Asheboro and formerly of Rockingham, died Monday, March 12, 2007 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. She was born January 2, 1919, daughter of the late Matilda Watts and Elijah Dawkins. Mrs. Long was a member of East Rockingham Free Will Baptist Church and retired from textiles at Aleo Manufacturing. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, March 15th in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy L. McLellan of Asheboro; two sons, Mitchell Long of Mint Hill and Jerry Long of Hickory; thirteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Her husband, Jesse Long; a son, Jesse A. Long; and a daughter, Frances McDaniel, preceded her in death. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 pm at Carter funeral Home in Rockingham. Memorials may be made to Regional Consolidated Services, PO Box 1883, Asheboro, NC 27204-1883.
