Betty Rae(Hammond) Boyette

Betty Rae Hammond Boyette, 83, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at Hospice Haven following a period of declining health. She was a native of Richmond County, a daughter of the late Connie and Lydia Parker Hammond. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Weston Jones Boyette, on January 11, 1976, a daughter, Cindy Boyette, and several siblings.

Betty was a dedicated homemaker who loved her family dearly and especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to the joy she received from her family, she also enjoyed potting flowers, shopping and going to the beach.

Her memory will be cherished by four children: Keith Boyette (Angela) of Rockingham, Amy Sale (Justin) of Hamlet, Weston Boyette of Rockingham and Mark Boyette (Renee) of Apex, NC; thirteen grandchildren: Brooke, Brittney, Krystle, Jr., Caleb, Meredith, Wes, Ethan, Tyler, Christian, Madeline, Courtney and Jan; fourteen great grandchildren: Avery, Elijah, Austin, Emma, Baden, Clayton James, Baylee, Andy, Leighlan, Londyn, Raelynn, Jadyn, Jaxon and Ava; and two sisters, Gail Tunstall (Zan) of Hamlet and Lydia “Sis” Mabe of Rockingham.

The body will lie in state from 3:00 until 5:00 PM Friday, at Carter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Weston’s home at 123 Dawn Drive, Rockingham.

The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at Outreach for Jesus, 440 Battley Dairy Road, Hamlet, with Pastor Marvin Taylor officiating. The body will lie in state from 2:00 until 2:45 prior to the service. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
