Billy Joe Butler, 52, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022 at his home.
Mr. Butler was born October 19, 1969, in Richmond County, a son of Clarence Dillin Butler, Jr. and the late Carol Jean Currie Butler.
Billy Joe grabbed life by the horns everyday, he was a jack of all trades. He loved to sing especially while he was working. A master carpenter, avid tarheel fan and river rat. There was not a summer, spring or fall that he wasn’t soaking up the sun at his favorite campsite on the riverbank or down at the pond fishing. He was loved by many as well misunderstood, he was rough around the edges but touched the heart of anyone he met. Lit up any room he was in and was the center of attention. Most of those who knew him well knew he was eccentric, out going
Loved hard and lived big. We will miss his over the top personality, how he could make us smile or laugh even though it seemed our worlds were falling apart. We didn’t always see eye to eye but, we always knew he was there no matter what. He was a great son, brother, uncle, “poppy” and father. His parents, children and grandchildren were his whole world. Green apple crown and cran-grape was his favorite drink so toast his life and have a drink for $5 Bill! He wouldn’t want us to be sad in fact he would want a celebration of his life along with all of us to live life to the fullest with no worries or regrets.
Surviving are his children, Candance Butler, Alexis Morman (George) and Gavin Butler; grandchildren, Charles Butler, Riley Butler, Doris Helton, Kace McKay, Saniah Butler, Makhi Morman, Haisel Morman; father, Dillin Butler; sister, Deana Butler Singletary (Chris); brothers, Robert Lee Butler and Daniel Wayne Butler (Maryann).
A service to celebrate and give thanks for Billy Joe’s life will be at Zion Circle Church with Crystal Brooks officiating, will be 6:00 pm Saturday February 12, 2022. The family will greet friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Circle Church, P.O.Box 7, Cordova, NC 28330.
