Brent Burgwine Smith

Brent Burgwine Smith, 38, of Cordova passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his home.

Brent was born February 5, 1980 in Richmond County, a son of Jane Neil Sills Smith and the late William Harold Smith, Jr. He was a graduate of Richmond Community College with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice Technology. He worked with Walmart and was a member of Cordova United Methodist Church where he had served as an acolyte, a member of the board, a member of the choir, a member of the youth group and gave the children’s sermon on Sundays. 

Surviving are his mother, Jane Sills Smith of the home; brothers, William Harold “Hal” Smith, III (Tammie) of Cordova, Marvin “Marty” Smith (Pam Jopson) of Rockingham and special nephews, Austin Smith and Cody Jopson.

A service to celebrate Brent’s life will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 4pm at Cordova United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Griswold and Scott Buck officiating. 

The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at Hal & Tammie’s.
