Carlton Lawrence Herberg, Jr.

Carlton Lawrence Herberg, Jr., 78, departed this life on Monday, July 5, 2021, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. A native of Hudson, New York, he was born July 20, 1942, a son of the late Carlton L. Herberg, Sr. and Mary Alice Fero Herberg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gita Marie Williams, and three sisters, Deborah, Gina and Mary Ann.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 29 years, Brenda Russell Herberg of the home; three children, Joey Herberg (Michelle) of Hamlet, Carla Smalls (William) of Fayetteville, and Jeff Barrington (Melinda) of Rockingham; two siblings, Gary Herberg and Judith Herberg, both of Massachusetts. Seventeen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.

He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. In life, Mr. Herberg was a skilled mechanic and could fix about any job he tackled. He worked primarily in the textile industry.  He enjoyed boating, fishing, being outdoors and working in his yard. But his greatest love was for his family and that love was unconditional without question.

He attended Jefferson Park Freewill Baptist Church where the family will receive friends Friday, July 9, from 3:00 until 4:00 PM.  The memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor Chris Jacobs officiating. Military Honors will be accorded.
