Cornelia "Faye" Simpson

Cornelia “Faye” Mitchum Simpson, 83, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Hospice Haven. She was born in Richmond County on July 23, 1936, a daughter of the late D.C. Mitchum and Edna Watts Mitchum. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Rev. Ed and Rose Watts. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Myra Simpson, and several brothers and sisters.

Her working career was spent mostly with Clark Equipment Company, but taking care of her family and others in need of help were always important to her. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them and others. She was a faithful member of Harvest Ministries Congregational Holiness Church.

She leaves behind two children, George Wilburn Simpson and wife, Haven, of Mt. Gilead, and Barbara Simpson Robson and husband, Rev. Donnie Robson of Ellerbe; her three grandchildren, Jonathan Aaron Turner, Jessica Hope Simpson and Joshua Wilburn Simpson; one great grandchild, Holly Faye Simpson; and a sister, Rachel Snead of Charlotte.

Due to restrictions relative to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will have a private graveside service Tuesday where she will be laid to rest with other family members at Eastside Cemetery.
