Doris Jean Holland Hill

Doris Jean Holland Hill, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Born on November 13, 1959, in Somerset, Pennsylvania, Doris was the cherished daughter of Raymond Eugene Holland and Esmerelda Iona Thomas Holland, both of whom predeceased her.

Throughout her life, Doris exemplified hard work and dedication, serving as a waitress, a farmer, and contributing her talents at Gibson Nursery. Her career was characterized by her unwavering commitment and willingness to support her family and community.

Above all, Doris's proudest accomplishment was her beloved family. She is survived by her devoted sons, David Brown (Denise) and Daniel Brown (Kristin Thomas), as well as her daughters, Jessica Hill (Cameron Boyd) and Taylor Purvis (Daniel). Doris's legacy is further enriched by her grandchildren: Trinity, Chase, Lexi, Kyle, Riley, Jarrett, and Jackson, who brought immense joy to her life.

Doris is also remembered by her loving siblings, Sherry Nyahay, Anita Brown, Jerry Holland, and LeeAnn Holland, who will carry forward her spirit of family and connection.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM, followed by a funeral service that will begin at 3:00 PM. Both events will be held at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe, North Carolina. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery.
