Doris Elizabeth King Lampley, 89, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
Mrs. Lampley was born September 6, 1932 in Sumter, SC, a daughter of the late Harrison King and Agnes “Tiny” Hutchinson King Carnes. She was a member of Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church and had attended East Rockingham Pentecostal Holiness Church. She worked in textiles for several years and retired from Harris Teeter. Following her retirement she opened Doris’ Floral, Crafts and Gifts and also worked as the activities director for Rockingham Manor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherwood L. Lampley, stepfather, Jack Carnes and brothers, Steve E. King and L.W. Carnes.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Gail Lampley Spalding (Richard), Rev. Harrison Lampley (Wanda) and Rev. Mark Lampley (Imelda Faith); grandchildren, Ricky, Matthew and Brandon Spalding, Lessie Lampley Williams, Jennifer Lampley Bell, Angela Lampley Dixon and Jonathan Lampley; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and brother Howard King.
A service to celebrate and give thanks for her life will be at 11 am Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at East Rockingham Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Harris Jordan, Rev. Kenneth Baber, Rev. Harrison Lampley and Rev. Mark Lampley officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her husband in Richmond County Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
