Emily "Jeanette" Cook King, 78, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Hospice Haven with family by her side following a long battle with cancer. Born in Pilot Mountain, NC, on April 22, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Winnie Wilson Cook and the widow of Bobby Delmer King. Also preceding her in death were siblings Roland, Rodney & Bruce Cook and Margie Russell.
Jeanette was a dedicated bus driver for West Rockingham School for 28 years. Her hobbies included growing flowers, but her true love and devotion was to her family. She was member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Her memory will be cherished by two children, Bobby Lester King (Denise Purvis) of Ellerbe and Teresa King Phillips (Brian) of Rockingham; four grandchildren: Lauren King, Jessica Kistler, Heather Webb (Chris) and Chad Phillips (Jodi); four great grandchildren: Dawtan Kistler, Adan King, Camden Webb and Ensley Webb; siblings: Kenny, Ronald, Charles and J.W. Cook, Clara Moore, Sandra Layton, Glenda Wilson and Mary Ruth.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 24, at Green Lake Cemetery with Rev. Carl Maree officiating. There will be no formal visitation. The family will gather at Jeanette’s home at 305 Crestview Drive, Rockingham.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be directed to Hospice Haven, 1119 N. US Hwy. 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
