Evelyn Brown Jackson

August 31, 1935 — April 6, 2022

Evelyn Brown Jackson

Mrs. Evelyn Brown Jackson went home to be with Her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 6th, 2022.  She was surrounded by her daughters, as they sang her beloved hymns.  Mrs. Jackson was born on August 31st, 1935, in Richmond County, an only child of F.A. and Ollie Brown.

Mrs. Jackson retired from Hood Packaging and returned to work for Richmond County schools in food services.  After retiring from Richmond County Schools, she continued to care for her aging mother and was a wonderful role model as Grandmother, Nana and Gigi to all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

For many years, Mrs. Jackson and her girls attended East Rockingham Free Will Baptist Church. She was a very active member and served as church secretary.  Later, she became a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where she enjoyed her time with The Joy Club and worshiped in Christian fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ.  She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Johnnie Jackson.

Celebration of her journey home will be held at the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home on Sunday, April 10th, 2022, at 3:00 pm with Pastor Carl Moree officiating. Family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:45 to 2:45 pm for visitation and other times at her residence.

Surviving are her four daughters, whom  she loved so much, Deloris Jarrell (Roger), Debra Jackson (Gene), Darlene Liles, and Jackie Payne (John).  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jonathan Kelly (Angela), Stacey Kelly, Christopher Jackson (Brittany), Evan Roller (Amy), Ashley Shepherd (Michael), Alex Aiken (Chris), Katie Aiken (Kevin), John David Payne III, and Jackson Payne; along with 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  Her family were her pride and joy.

Our mother (and grandmother) is resting high on that mountain, and we are so thankful she is with her Heavenly Father.  We wish to thank the Community Hospice services for their loving and wonderful care. Memorials in her honor may be made to Hospice or Pine Grove Baptist Church.
