Wayne Barber

Gary Wayne Barber, 74, of Carthage, completed his earthly journey on Monday, December 12, 2022.

Wayne was born December 13, 1947 in Moore County, a son of the late Hardy and Nellie Kennedy Barber. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Division 8 Traffic services. Following retirement, he enjoyed working for a close family friend, Jimmy Thompson on his farm.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Shelby Puckett Barber; daughters, Jill McInnis and Angie Dupree (Chris)and a special nephew that he considered a son, David Puckett (Edie); grandchildren, Brittany Glidewell (Michael Estep), Brandon McInnis (Jordan Hunt) and Dakota Dupree; great grandchildren, Talen Glidewell and Brynlee Estep and brother, Larry Barber (Sue).

A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be at 2:00 pm Friday, December 16, 2022 at Saron Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Luck officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service.
