Hazel Thomas Blue

Hazel Grey Thomas Kelly Blue, 91, of Rockingham, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital- Richmond Campus in Rockingham.

Mrs. Blue was born August 10, 1926 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Marson L.  and Lottie Phillips Thomas. She was a charter and active member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church and had managed several motels in Rockingham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James C. Kelly and George Blue; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Gary Hunsucker and grand daughter, Angela Walters.

Surviving are her children, Gloria Jean Sheppard ( Jerry )  and James “Jim” Kelly, Jr. (Joy), all of Rockingham; grandchildren, Jerry Sheppard, Jr, Leigh Ann Hunsucker, James C. Kelly, III, and Gregory B. Kelly; great grandchildren, Makenna Kelly, Lilith Sheppard, Justin Walters, and Jessica Walters, and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at Beverly Hills Baptist Church with Rev. David Huffines officiating. Interment will follow in Old Northam Cemetery.

The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the Sheppard home, 118 Woodland Rd., Rockingham.
