Hazel Shaw Todd

Rockingham

It is with profound sadness but with great joy that we announce the passing of Hazel Shaw Todd, who departed this life on February 10, 2025, at Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham, North Carolina. Born on July 21, 1929, in Bladen County North Carolina, Hazel brought joy and beauty into the lives of those around her for 95 remarkable years.

Hazel dedicated forty years of her life to Ethels Florist, where she not only honed her craft but also shared her artistic talents through exquisite floral arrangements that touched the hearts of many within the community. With each design, she infused her work with a kindness and sweetness that resonated deeply with those who were fortunate to receive her creations. Her funny and loving personality made her a cherished presence in the lives of both friends and family.

A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Rockingham, Hazel's faith was an integral part of her identity. She exemplified the spirit of community, nurturing relationships that blossomed as beautifully as the flowers she arranged. Her character shone through in her interactions with others, a testament to a life lived with purpose and love.

Hazel's family was her proudest accomplishment. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Martha T. Nelson, and a legacy of love that extends to her grandchildren, Robert "Bob" Nelson (Rhonda) and great-grandchildren, Robert Nelson Jr. and Taylor Fahmy (Omar), as well as her great-great-grandchild, Nurah Fahmy. They will forever cherish the memories they created together, finding comfort in the laughter and warmth she shared with them.

Hazel is preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Ellis Shaw; daughter, Cindy Wall; great-grandson Christopher Monroe Hankins; and brother, William Mack Shaw. Their souls remain intertwined with hers, and together they are remembered with love.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Hazel's life during a visitation on February 16, 2025, from 2:45 PM to 3:45 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Lee and Rev. Jason Moore Officiating. In these moments, we gather to honor a remarkable woman who enriched our lives with her artistry, humor, and unwavering kindness.

Burial will be held privately.

Hazel Shaw Todd's memory will be forever etched in our hearts. Her spirit will continue to blossom in the lives she touched, reminding us of the beauty she shared and the love that remains.
