Jane Rabb Hogan

September 22, 1934 — April 22, 2021

Jane Rabb Hogan

Jane Rabb Hogan, 86, longtime resident of the Derby community, completed her earthly journey on Thursday, April 22, 2021. She was born September 22, 1934 in Cramerton, NC, a daughter of the late Noah Lee “Pappy” and Ina Metcalf Rabb.

Jane Hogan never met a stranger. She loved meeting people and talking. She had a 50 year history with NASCAR. They were all her “family”. She was known far and wide for her culinary skills: from banana pudding, crab salad, to her homemade pepper jelly. Each of her friends at the racetrack all had favorites and she would lovingly make extra for them and delivered them weekly at the racetrack.

Jane loved and adored each niece and nephew, on the Rabb side and the Hogan side. She liked nothing better than birthdays, graduations and weddings. She was a hands-on mom, often alone, coming to dance recitals, piano recitals, and ball games. She was one to always feed our ball teams, or cupcakes at school.

She loved her community and her church, Jones Springs United Methodist Church. You could always find her making wreaths for a door or cleaning up pinecones out of a cemetery.

As one of her closest friends, Bill Joyner, puts it. “ We all had the great fortune, one way or the other, to interact with her. All I can say is that she is one of the few people who got to do things her way. You have to respect and appreciate that because it is rare people can say that they did it their way. “.

Family and friends will gather at her home, 143 Adam Drive, Ellerbe on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from Noon until 2:30 pm to reminisce and share memories of Jane. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm in the Hogan Cemetery, directly behind Jones Springs Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her son Mark who preceded her in death 26 years ago.

In addition to her parents and her son Mark, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Raymond Rabb, Harry Rabb, Doug Rabb, Dale Rabb, Pauline Mitchum, Evelyn McLain, Judy Haynes, Deen Linker, and Hazel Carter.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved family, son, Alan Hogan, her much loved daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hogan and her daughter, Cindy Hogan, her grandson Adam Hogan (Ashley), her great grandsons, Hunter Hogan, Michael Flieshman, her great granddaughters, Briana, Kelsey, Adena, and Aliyana, her brother, Charles Rabb and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Jane has taken her final lap, received her checkered flag, her race is won.

Alan and I would like to voice our appreciation to those who helped, love and support her and helped her succeed at what she loved.  We hope that each individual understands what a difference they made in her life.

Memorial contributions may be made to Derby Fire Department or to Jones Springs United Methodist Church.
