Jerry Jenkins Meacham, a beloved figure to all who knew him, passed away peacefully at his home on April 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy rich in love, kindness, and laughter. Born on July 9, 1940, in Richmond County, North Carolina, Jerry lived a life dedicated to his family, his country, and his friends.
A proud Retired Chief Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force. His tours took him to Korea, Alaska, and Germany, where he not only fulfilled his duties with honor but also forged lifelong friendships and memories. His military career was marked by dedication, discipline, and an endearing sense of humor that lifted the spirits of his comrades and family alike. He approached every challenge with a fun-loving spirit and a gentle, nurturing hand, traits that endeared him to all who crossed his path.
Jerry's greatest pride and accomplishment came from his family. He cherished his daughters, Deborah Lee Hanson (Brett) and Theresa Ann Warner (Steve), nurturing them with love and support while always encouraging them to pursue their dreams. His role as a grandfather to Jason Wells and Olivia Hanson brought him immense joy, a testament to the bond he shared with his loved ones that will live on through the generations. Additionally, he had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Hailey, Kara and Vincent, along with being a great-great grandfather to Maddie and Dominique, who brought him immense happiness.
He is survived by his dedicated brother, Jimmy Meacham, who shared many cherished memories with him throughout their lives. Together, they navigated the complexities of life, providing each other with unwavering support and fond companionship.
In addition to his surviving family, Jerry will be joining those who have gone before him, including his beloved parents, James Franklin Meacham and Robbie Grose Smith Meacham, as well as his dear wife, Dorothy Gray "Dotty" Rumley Meacham, whose nurturing spirit and devotion reflected the love they built together. Also remembered in thoughts and prayers are his late brother, Michael "Mickey" Meacham, and his grandchild, Miles Hanson, who have forever left a mark on Jerry's heart.
A Celebration of Jerrys life will be held at a later date.
The profound impact Jerry had on his family and friends is immeasurable. His kindness, humor, and unwavering love have woven a fabric of memories that will be cherished for years to come. Although he has departed from this earthly world, his spirit will endure in the hearts of his loved ones, illuminating their lives with the warmth he shared so freely.
