Jewell Hudson Evans

Jewell Hudson Evans, 88, of Rockingham, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023 at Magnolia Gardens in Pinehurst.

Mrs. Evans was born October 26, 1935 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late William Thomas “Bud” and Annie Myrtle Hasty Hudson. She was a homemaker, co-founder of Custom Monument Company in Rockingham and a member of Ledbetter United Methodist Church. She loved fishing and the flea market. She sold for over 50 years at the Hwy 220 Flea Market where she was known as the belt lady. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John David “JD” Evans, and siblings, James Hudson, Mary Player, Rosa Caudle and Annie Chambers.

She is survived by her sons, Eric Evans (Sandra) and Patrick Evans (Dena); grandsons, John Evans and Matthew Evans; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Jack Hudson and Fred Hudson and sister, Violet Jones. 

Private graveside services will be held at Bear Branch Cemetery.
