Joann Lassiter Smith

Joann Lassiter Smith, 86, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Dahlia Gardens in Aberdeen, North Carolina.

Mrs. Smith was born March 4, 1938 in Davidson County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late John Lacy and Hurley Marie Smith Lassiter. She had attended Maple Street Free Will Baptist Church and Sweet Haven Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, cleaning and her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junious Harrison Smith.

She is survived by her children, Billy J. Brown (Tammy), Jimmy C. Brown, and Joanie B. Brayboy (J.B.); grandsons, Joshua Brayboy and Jeremy Brayboy and siblings, John L. Lassiter, Jr and Doris Moss.

A service to celebrate Mrs. Smith’s life will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 8, 2024 in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home.
