Johnny Ross Lynch, Sr., 75, passed away at his home in Rockingham Monday morning, January 20, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born January 25, 1944, a son of the late Caleb Monroe Lynch and Daisy Jernigan Lynch.
Johnny was known as a hard worker with many skills, but his primary occupation was that of a plumber. He loved his family and enjoyed time with them. He was also a dedicated member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Hamlet where he served in many capacities including that of a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and “handyman” for the church. He was also involved in prison ministry and ministry at several local rest homes for a number of years.
His memory will be cherished by his wife of 54 years, Polly Seagraves Lynch; two children, Johnnie R. Lynch, Jr. (Lisa D.) of Pinebluff and Teresa Garris of Fayetteville; four grandchildren: Danielle Garris, Talon Lynch, Caleb Garris and Jessica McDuffie; two brothers, Jimmy Lynch (Janet) and Ray Lynch (Linda); and sister-in-law: Nora Knox.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Teryn Love Lynch; brothers, Vander, Claude and Houston; and sisters, Mary, Catherine, Francis, Janie Sue and Ruth.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 23, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1407 McDonald Avenue, Hamlet, officiated by Pastor Al McCormick. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM. Interment will follow the service in Richmond County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N. US Hwy 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
