Katie Thompson White

Katie Elizabeth Thompson White, 89, of Ellerbe passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 at Sandy Ridge Memory Care in Candor, NC. She was born July 17, 1930 in Montgomery County, the first-born child to Julius Thompson and Pauline Morris Thompson. She was an active member of McLean Presbyterian Church until recent months. Katie worked in various business offices through the years, and she retired from United Carolina Bank with 25 years of service. Katie was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, John Norman White, her son John Kenneth White, and her brother Jerry Thompson. Surviving are her son Thomas Edward White and wife Donna of Ellerbe, grandchildren: Beth White of N. Charleston, SC, Adrienne White of Rockingham, Hannah White of Matthews, NC, Hayley White Chavis (Martin) of Asheboro, NC, and great-granddaughter Molly McDonald of Rockingham. Also surviving are her daughter in-law, Cindy White Aldridge of Newland, NC and her siblings Carl Thompson, Robert Thompson, Peggy Faile, and Johnny Thompson. Grandma Katie was deeply devoted to her grandchildren and will be greatly missed. Katie also had two very special friends, Janie-Bell Campbell and Hazel Rhyne, who will miss her greatly as well. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 22, 2019 at McLean Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Jamie Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM in the church fellowship hall and at other times at 116 Duncans Road in Ellerbe.
