Kay Hollingsworth Mabe

Brenda Kay Hollingsworth Mabe, 78, of Ellerbe, completed her earthly journey on Friday, December 27, 2024. 

Kay was born May 31, 1946 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Charlie Wade and Edith Moore Hollingsworth. She was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1964 and worked for over 30 years with Commonwealth Hosiery. She was a longtime member of Ellerbe First Baptist Church where she was active in the outreach ministry, sending cards to shut-ins. Kay enjoyed too many things to mention, but her greatest joy was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Hollingsworth and sisters, Betty Branson and Helen Hollingsworth. 

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Kent Mabe; children, Kelly Kirk (Russell) and Keith Mabe (Holly); grandchildren, Alex Kirk, Tyler Kirk (Lauren), and Rebekah Mabe; great grandson, Mason Perkins; sister, Barbara Kirkland and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Ellerbe First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. James Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Chappell Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 12:45 – 1:45 pm Tuesday at Ellerbe First Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
