Lila Covington Ussery

Lila Mae Covington Ussery, 107, formerly of Rockingham, ended her journey here on earth Thursday, June 22, 2023.

Lila was born February 5, 1916, a daughter of the late Jasper Waite and Maie Belle Agle Covington. She retired from Gilead Manufacturing Company and was a member of Saron Baptist Church in Ellerbe where she taught Sunday School. She is preceeded in death by; her husband Joseph A. Ussery, daughter Rebecca Jo Bennett, brothers Clegg, Lindbergh, Alva, Alan, Winfred and sisters, Themla, Ollie, Lula, Zona and Virginia.

She leaves behind; grandchildren Bryon W. Bennett (Amy) of South Carolina, Jonathan L. Bennett (Christina) of Ohio, great grandchildren Noah, Caleb, and Elijah Bennet of South Carolina and Alex and Ethan Bennett of Ohio along with a special niece Margaret Brookshire of Ellerbe, North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Carter Funeral Home Ellerbe Chapell with interment following at Chappell Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 12:45pm – 1:45pm at the Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe.
