Margaret Cockman Barber, 89, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at her home. Mrs. Barber was born December 14, 1929 in Richmond County, the daughter of the late Grady and Myrtle Childers Cockman. She was a graduate of Rockingham High School, Class of 1947 and was a longtime member of Community Church. She had been employed with JP Stevens Co. and for 20 years worked with the Richmond County Board of Elections. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. Barber and a grandson, Jeff Barber. Surviving are her sons, Danny Barber of McGee Crossroads and Johnny Barber (Kasey) of Raleigh; grandchildren, Danny Barber, Jr., Kellie McLeod, Margaret Hernandez, Matt Belvin and Courtney Beaudoin and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Robby Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Community Church, 193 Mill Rd, Rockingham, NC 28379.
