Margaret Ussery Brookshire

Margaret Ussery Brookshire, 90, of Ellerbe, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.

Mrs. Brookshire was born October 18, 1932 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late William Floyd and Grace Graham Ussery. She was a lifelong active member of Saron Baptist Church where she served as recording secretary for many years. She was as a bookkeeper with United Mills and later with Robinson Tire Service and also farmed with her husband Bill. She was a hard working woman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William Michael and Jimmy Ussery.

Surviving are her husband, 61 years, William D. “Bill” Brookshire; sister, Jo Ann Ussery Thompson; nieces and nephews, Marshall “Mark” Thompson (Donna), Patricia “Trish” McGee (Wade), Joy Frankoff, and Mike Ussery (Cindy) and several great nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Saron Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Luck officiating. Burial will be held privately in Ellerbe Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 1:45 -2:45 pm Sunday at the church.
