Mary Ann Reid Bennett

Mary Ann Reid Bennett, 82, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at The Hermitage in Rockingham.

Mrs. Bennett was born October 2, 1940 in Richmond County, the daughter of Willie and Audrey Tripp Reid. She was a member of Community Church, a graduate of Rohanen High School, Class of 1959,  loved working in her yard and sitting in her rocking chair enjoying her flowers. For 47 years she was a fixture at the family store, Willie Reid’s Grocery on Airport Road. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby G. Bennett, son William Alan Bennett and brother Timothy Reid.

Surviving are grandchildren, Timothy Bennett and Audrey Teal; four great grandchildren and special friends and classmates, Carolyn Walker and Sarah Thompson

Funeral services will be at 3pm, Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Community Church in Rockingham with Rev. Chris Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends from 1:45pm to 2:45pm at the church.
