“Turtle” Campbell

Michael Earl Campbell, 59, known as “Turtle” by friends and family, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020, following a period of declining health.

“Turtle” was a native of Richmond County, born January 15, 1961, a son of the late Earl Campbell and Mozelle Ballard Campbell. He attended the public schools of Richmond County through the 12^th grade at Richmond Senior High School. He also served in the US Navy for a brief time. He worked as a painter in the housing industry prior to having health issues.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Smith.  He is survived by his son, Christopher “Chase” Campbell of Aberdeen; one sister, Cindy Shirk and husband, Paul, of Rockingham, and one brother, Travis Campbell.

In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.
