Mr. Johnson was born June 6, 1942 in Bridgeport, CT, a son of the late Ethel Coyne Johnson White. He proudly served his country in the US Navy for 6 years and owned and operated several Singer Sewing Machine Businesses, most currently Quilting at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, SC. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, boating, shagging, singing, karaoke, playing guitar and in his younger days, playing in his band. He was a comedian at heart and enjoyed telling a good story. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don Johnson and sister Barbara West.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Tew Johnson; children, Paul Johnson, Jr. (Amy) and Kimberly DeFronzo; grandchildren, Heather Madden, Piper Johnson and Sullivan Johnson; brother, Roger Johnson; step children, Jess Currie, III (Marcie), Amy Hildreth (Sean) and Joseph Currie (Annie); step grandchildren, Nathan Hildreth (Sarah), Jessica Bowers (Justin), Brittany Currie and step great grandchildren, Aliya Bowers, Josie Hildreth, River Hildreth and Kenley Gulledge, as well as several other step grand and great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Mr. Johnson’s life will be at 11:00 am Friday, September 29, 2023 at Freedom Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie McLean officiating. Military Honors will be given immediately following the service.
The family will greet friends following the service at the church and at other times at the home.
