Penny Lavonne Wallace

Penny Lavonne Wallace, 79 of Thomasville, passed away on Thursday October 11, 2018 peacefully at her home.

Penny was born on January 22, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Joseph Wilson and Dorothy Mae (Porter) Russell.  She greatly enjoyed a career as a Country/Gospel music singer and songwriter.  Penny's love for her family was only surpassed by her love for the Lord.  She devoted her life to spreading the word both through music and by example. 

In addition to her parents and three infant siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband George Wallace, son Bryon Short, and brother Robert Russell.

Surviving are daughters; Brenda Benton of Norman, Karen Weimorts (Adam) of Thomasville, and Michelle Lassiter (John) of Ellerbe; sons Brad Short (Sharon) of Stillwater, OK and Brock Short (Melissa) of Kalispell, MT; brother Ronald Russell (Chris), sisters, Dorothy Watson and Carol Schwarz all of Yukon, OK, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 19th at 2:00 pm., at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe, NC with Pastor Mike Owens officiating.  The family will receive visitors from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, prior to the service.  Interment to follow 880 County Line Road, Norman, NC.
