Richard Warren Comer

Richard Warren Comer 67, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 7, 2019 at home.

He was born October 2, 1951 to the late John Lindsay(Jack) Comer and Ila Cleo Comer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Comer. Richard worked as a mechanic for 20 plus years at Ellerbe Auto, where he could be fondly found drinking coffee with the regulars and listening to 99.7 the Fox Radio Station as he worked on vehicles. He ended his career working at Brown Creek Correctional Facility in Polkton as a prison guard. He retired from there in 2017. Richard loved Nascar, Investigation Discovery Chanel, playing his luck on lottery tickets, a good steak, helping his daughter put up Christmas decorations, babysitting his grand-dogs Chubby and Gus, and more than anything else watching his grandson play ball.

Richard will be greatly missed by his only daughter, Melissa  Pruitt and husband Sam of Belmont; grandson Zeke Pruitt of Belmont; brothers, Johnny Comer and his wife Jo of Indian Trail, Keith Comer and his wife Carol of Charlotte, and Kevin Comer and his wife Sasha of Cowpens, SC and step-mother Doris Cooper of Wellford, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe.
