Richard Eric Singletary, Sr.

Richard Eric Singletary, Sr. of Rockingham, NC, passed away in his home surrounded by his family, Friday, October 4, 2019. Richard was born June 3, 1954, a son of the late Elmer and Gladys Melton Singletary of East Rockingham. Richard was also preceded in death by one brother, Gene Singletary of Sanford, NC.

Richard retired from John Edwards Company of Indian Trail, NC, and also worked at Fruit of the Loom and Sandhurst in Rockingham. Richard had many interests and was a “jack of all trades”. Richard was a loving father and husband and served the Lord for many years as a member of Roberdel Baptist Church, a Sunday school teacher, RA’s leader and a Gideon. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and although refined to his home due to health issues for the past several years, he made every attempt he could to be there for his family and enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Richard is survived by his wife of 46 years, Myra Chavis Singletary of the home, his children; Eric Singletary of Spartanburg, SC; Chris Singletary and wife Deana of Rockingham, NC and Melinda Singletary Murphy of Rockingham, NC; George Reeves and wife Megan, Six grandchildren; Tabitha Reeves, Dillon Butler, Nicholas Murphy, Jr., Nathan Singletary, Crimson Singletary and Ashley Murphy, and two great-grandchildren, Siblings; Bobby Singletary and wife Carolyn of Hamlet, NC, Dennis Singletary, Sr., and wife Fay of Rockingham, NC, Roger Singletary and wife Angela of Thomasville, NC, Nancy Singletary Millen and husband Wayne “Bill” of Rockingham, NC, Gail Singletary Pate of Rockingham, NC and Donald Singletary of Rockingham, NC; a host of extended family.

Carter Funeral Home and Roberdel Baptist Church will be serving the Singletary family.

Visitation will be Monday, October 7, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Carter Funeral Home.

Memorial Service will be Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 6 pm at Roberdel Baptist Church.
