Robert Benson

Robert Keith Benson, 59, of Rockingham passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his home.

Robert was born February 3, 1959 in Richmond County, a son of the late Ellis Argo Benson and the late Mary Alice Jordan Benson Cook. He had worked with the Richmond County Water Department, was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ellis Timothy Benson.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Walters Benson of the home; sons, Robert Buck Benson, Benjamin Keith Benson and Brent Jordan Benson, all of Rockingham; grandchildren, Tessa Hope Benson, Jaxxon Keith Benson and Karsyn Jordan Benson and sisters Betty Freeman of Rock Hill, SC, Shirley Massey of Rockingham, Geneva Taylor of Holden Beach and Patricia Kuebler of Rockingham. 

Funeral services will be at 3pm Sunday at the Church of God of Prophecy, 139 Flowers Street, Rockingham, NC  with Pastor Ernie Walters and Pastor Steve Gilmer officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.

The family will see friends from 1:45 to 2:45 pm Sunday at the church and at other times at the home.
