Robert Jerry Heath passed away peacefully at 89 on November 7, 2024. He was surrounded by his family and friends at Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham, NC.
Robert was born February 6, 1935. He was an Ellerbe boy at heart but made his home in Rockingham. Robert never met a stranger and never missed the opportunity to tell others about his Lord and Savior. He was a beacon of light to his children and grandchildren, teaching them to enjoy the simple things as he did. Such as growing flowers; his vegetable garden and making a yard that would rival the best. Known as “Mayor of Bojangles” he loved his friends and enjoyed his morning coffee and talks every morning.
Robert was a dedicated member of Cordova Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 50 years as well as teaching Sunday school. He also served as chaplain of First Health Richmond for many years. Robert spent his career of 40 years at Burlington Industries. He is preceded in death by his father Marshall Heath, mother Mary Heath, Sister Betty Ingram and husband Robert, Sister Lois Hall and husband Claude, Son-in-law Kenneth Edwards and grandchild Kristy Edwards.
Surviving is his dedicated and loving wife of 70 years, Juanita Heath. Sister Johnsie Mills (Bobby) of Ellerbe, Brother Jimmy Heath (Sybil) of Ellerbe. Three daughters; Pam Edwards of Rockingham, Robin Lovette (Mark) of Rockingham, Connie Moser (Bobby) of hamlet. Six Grandchildren, Rusty Edwards (Ashley), Justin Lovette (Kelli), Spencer Lovette, Molly Grace Lovette, Will Brand (Nicole) and Rebecca McKay (Kyle). Seven great grandchildren; Kyleigh, Bella, Kent, Caroline, Raleigh, Liam and Duncan Heath.
Robert was the rock of his family, dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held at Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel on Monday, November 11, 2024 at noon with Pastor Doug Anderson and Pastor Bill Monroe Officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 from 10:45 am – 11:45 am at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
