Robert Meredith McInnis

Robert Meredith McInnis, 65, of Ellerbe, completed his earthly journey on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. 

Robert was born July 14, 1958 in Moore County, the son of Barbara Russell McInnis and the late John Meredith “Rig” McInnis. He was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School, Class of 1976 and attended Southside Free Will Baptist Church. He worked with Superior Cranes, owned and operated McInnis Siding and was most proud of working on the NASCAR Championship pit crew team for Dale Jarrett and Robert Yates Racing. 

Robert’s lifelong love for sports has been evident by the countless number of hours spent playing and coaching on the ball field.  In recent years he found joy in supporting his grandchildren and other family members as they too pursued their love for the sport.  His sense of humor was unparalleled and his ability to bring laughter to those around him in any situation will always be remembered.

Robert is survived by his children, Lindsay Rae Thomas (Joel) and Maggie Anne Smith (Ryan); grandchildren, Lilly Rae Thomas, Rylee Paige Thomas, Russell Lane Smith, Caroline Elizabeth Smith and Charlotte Ryan Smith; the mother of his children, Pamela McIntyre McInnis; mother Barbara Russell McInnis; sister, Dawn McInnis Snead (Robbie); niece, Meredith Barber (Will) and great nieces, Maddie and Shelby Barber.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe with Rev. Stephen Ashby officiating. The family will greet friends following the service and at other times at his mother’s home. Private committal services will be held in Ellerbe Cemetery.
