Roger Douglas Lovin

Roger Douglas Lovin, 72, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.

Roger was born December 24, 1945 in Richmond County, a son of the late Vernon McLean and Frances Tilley Lovin. He was a graduate of Ellerbe High School and Richmond Community College. He served his country in the US Army, stationed at Ft. Jackson and Ft. Hood. He had been employed with North Carolina Natural Gas Company.

Survivors include his children, Angela McDonald (Jamie) of Rockingham, Franie Rachels (Jonathan) of Carthage; grandchildren, Douglas McDonald, Emma Rose McDonald, Mayson McDonald, Gage Rachels and Grayson Rachels; brother, Vernon McLean Lovin, Jr. of Hamlet and sisters, Bonnie Mabe and Betty Snow, both of Ellerbe.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Monday, April 2, 2018 at McLean Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jamie Smith officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will see friends from 12:45 – 1:45 pm Monday at McLean Presbyterian Church and at other times at the McDonald home.

Memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 US Hwy 1 N, Rockingham, NC 28379.
