Ruth Speight Swails

Ruth Speight Swails, 78, of Rockingham, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 25, 2017.

Mrs. Swails was born September 29, 1939 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Eli Ashworth and Rosa Terry Speight. She was a graduate and valedictorian of Rohanen High School, Class of 1957 and had retired from Sandhills Office Systems.  She was a member of Highland Acres Church of God, where she had been a Sunday School teacher, active in the Womens Ministry and a devoted prayer warrior. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Schultz, brothers, Harvey, E.A., Brady and Charles Speight and sister, Louise Covington.

Surviving are her husband, Horace Swails of the home; children, Joy Schultz of Rockingham, Rev. Opie Swails (Angie) of Laurel Hill, Mackie Swails (Nikki) of Laurinburg and Erin Ray (Joe) of Laurel Hill; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Nora Stone of Rockingham and a brother, Glenn Speight of Rockingham.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Thursday at Highland Acres Church of God with Rev. Opie Swails, Rev. David Shoemake and Rev. Joe Wilkes, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park 

The family will see friends from 12:45 to 1:45 pm Thursday at the church and at other times at the home.
