Sherry Etta Sargent passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, at The Haven, Richmond County Hospice in Rockingham, NC. Sherry was a sweet and caring soul that dedicated her life to the care of her family.
Sherry worked in the service industry working as a waitress in many establishments ending her career working in her sister Judy’s restaurant, The Firehouse, in Gibson, NC. She lived in her family home most of her life, caring for her mother until her passing in 2016.
Sherry’s favorite times were gathering with her sisters during holidays and beach trips. They would sing gospel music with unmatched harmonizing and enjoyed just being in each other’s company. Her last wishes were for everyone to get together like old times.
She is survived by her sisters, Angeline Lamb (David), Linda Harris (Robert), Judy Pond, Kay Sargent, and Mary Shepherd (Elbert), and her dogs who were like her children. Her precious great niece, Leanne Moore (Richie), and great nephew, Joshua Franklin, who made her last few months adventurous and filled with love. Additionally, a multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews share in the legacy of love that Sherry instilled in her family.
Sherry is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Leonard Hugh Sargent and Alice Virginia Campbell Sargent and brother, Leonard Eugene Sargent.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Outreach For Jesus with Pastor Marvin Taylor officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:45pm ~ 2:45pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Outreach For Jesus 440 Battley Dairy Road, Hamlet, NC 28379 or Richmond County Hospice 1119 North US Highway 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
