Shirley Russell Jackson

Shirley Russell Jackson, 82, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. She was born June 3, 1937, in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Jess Currie and the late Kate Currie Russell.

She was the wife of Lonnie Jackson, Jr. of the home and they had been married for 57 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and she was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Jackson’s working career was that of a bookkeeper for various businesses in the area.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Lonnie Jackson III and wife, Michelle of Columbia, NC, and Russell Scott Jackson and wife, Tammy, of Vass, NC; and five grandchildren: Megan Jackson, Olivia Jackson, Emily Jackson, Amanda Jackson and Johnathan Williams.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Ledbetter United Methodist Church with Pastor Lee Griffith officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:45 until 1:45 prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Green Lake UMC Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Richmond County Hospice Haven, 1119 N. US Hwy. 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
