Shirley Peek Thomas

Shirley Ann Peek Thomas, 89, of Greensboro, formerly of Rockingham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at her home.

Mrs. Thomas was born December 13, 1934 in Alamance County, NC a daughter of the late Emory and Beatrice Meacham Peek. She was a member of Rockingham Church of Christ and later, Boyd Lake Church of Christ and had worked with Gaddy’s Clothing Store, Hanes Hosiery and retired from Fruit of the Loom. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wyman Lewis Thomas; grandson, Bailey Grossman-Orr, and siblings, James “Tim” Peek, Thomas “Sonny” Peek, Conrad Peek and Betty Jo Edwards.

She is survived by her children, Chris Orr (Jeannie), Vernon Grossman-Orr (Mareida) and Corey Thomas; stepsons, Clay Thomas (Donna) and Lewis Thomas; 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 2, 2024 in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Casey Williams officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
