Thomas Edgar “Bay” Humber, Jr., 71, of Rockingham, completed his earthly journey on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Bay, the man, the myth, the legend, was born October 30, 1953 in Richmond County, a son of the late Thomas Edgar and Betty Pegram Humber. He was the owner and operator of Humber Masonry and attended Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church and Grace Fellowship Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed boxing and loved a good fight.
He is survived by his children, Paula H. Swails (Kevin), Terra Wilbun (Greg), Samantha Kirk, Thomas E. “Bryk” Humber, III (Missy), and Tiffany H. Bass (Ryan); grandchildren, Casey Swails (Ariel), Katelyn Smith (Scott), Paige Singletary (Bryson), Scotlin Maples, Riley Kirk, Ryan Kirk (Candice), Kylie Humber (Blake Brigman), Kaden Humber, Emma Bass, Mallory Bass, Adeline Bass and Amelia Bass; nine great grandchildren; his beloved K-9 companion Rambo; siblings, Jackie Humber (Donna), Lucy McIntyre (Ken), and Sandy Ard (Randy) and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends from 11:00am to 12:45 pm Thursday at the Grace Fellowship Church, 217 Midway Road, Rockingham, NC. A service to celebrate Bay’s life will follow at 1:00pm with Pastor Roger Webster officiating. At other times the family will gather at the Humber homeplace, 2321 Old Aberdeen Road, Rockingham, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made in Bay’s memory to Grace Fellowship Church, 217 Midway Road, Rockingham, NC 28379.
