Wanda Kay Brown Barrington

 Wanda Brown Barrington, lovingly known as “Wanda Kay” of Rockingham, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the age of 75. She was born December 8,1949.

In her life, Wanda Kay dedicated her time to helping others. She graduated from nursing school in 1975. She worked as a nurse in Rockingham for over 25 years, providing compassionate care to her patients. She loved her patients, always looking out for them and making sure she gave them the best care she could. After retiring, she spent her time in fellowship with her church family and enjoyed going to local nursing homes to visit. She would play the piano and sing to the residents, which brought her joy. Her other passion was animals. If there was a stray animal found, they were no longer stray. She brought them in, nursed them back to health, and gave them a loving home. Many cats and dogs felt love and security because of her. Wanda loved her family most of all. She was happiest when spending time with them. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a friend, a nurse, and thankfully a mama and grandma—who will be missed by many. Her love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In loving memory of our family, Wanda Kay is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Barrington, her parents Ernest and Gladys Brown, her grandparents James and Alean Brigman, Newton and Ida Brown, sister-in-law Wanda Brown and her great granddaughter Lyla Brooke Chaudhary.

Wanda Kay is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Joshua) Thompson and son Ted (Shannon) Rodgers, Jr., her six grandchildren Amanda Wallace, Rebekah Wallace, Erin Tackett, Joshua Rodgers, Allie Rodgers and Emily Rodgers, three great-grandchildren Asher, Arya and Illiana, her siblings Gary Brown, Ernest Brown Jr, Vanessa (Ricky) Edelen, Carolyn (Chuck) Lowery, Vincent (Krisanne) Brown, Deanna Brown and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are welcome to join the family at the graveside celebration of life which will be held at Eastside Cemetery in Rockingham on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 1:00pm.
