William Bobby Linton, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and community member, passed away peacefully at his home in Richmond County, North Carolina, on December 26, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on September 29, 1935, in Chesterfield County, South Carolina he lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to his Lord and Savior as well as to others.
William’s impressive educational journey culminated in a Doctorate in Education, alongside Master's degree in Engineering, a Bachelor's degree in Business, and an Associate in Religion. His thirst for knowledge was only rivaled by his commitment to teaching, which he fulfilled with passion as he retired from Richmond Senior High School in 1996. Before this, he proudly served over 20 years in the United States Air Force, following his initial service in the United States Marine Corps. His military career showcased his commitment to his country, instilling values of duty and responsibility that resonated throughout his life.
William was a pillar in his community accepting the call to preach and spread the gospel, becoming an ordained minister in 1995 as well as taking the role as Pastor at New Beginnings Christian Ministries in Rockingham, North Carolina.
A member of Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church, William remained active in his faith and his community, where his caring and loving nature shone brightly. He took immense pride in his family, which he often regarded as his greatest accomplishment. His legacy is carried on by his devoted daughters, Roxanne Knight (Gene) and Sandra Teeters (Steve), who embody the love and support he instilled in them.
As a grandfather, William was a source of strength and guidance to his grandchildren: Amanda Norton Williams (Timothy), Trey Knight (Leigh Anna), Trina Teeters Williams (Jason), Travis Knight (Angie), Amber Teeters Peele (Josh), Brittany Teeters, Hunter Knight, and Michael Knight. He delighted in the joys of being a great-grandfather, nurturing the latest generations with the same care he offered his own children. His great-grandchildren—Trace, Bianca, Madisyn, Joshua, Luckais, Chandler, Kaylea, Sawyer, Madilyn, Myleigh, Rylee, Roxy, and Wade.
Along with a brother Wayne Barney Linton (Debbie)—will forever hold dear their memories of his comforting presence and kind heart.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Carpenter Linton, along with his parents, William Barney Linton and Lilly Mae Boone Linton, and siblings Elton Ray Linton, Joseph Walter Linton, Doris Linton Moree, and Evelyn Linton English. The family finds comfort in the legacy of love and dedication he leaves behind, a legacy that will be cherished for generations to come.
