Mr. James Alexander McLean, 90, of Rockingham died Saturday, October 27, 2007 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital. He was born September 5, 1917 in Rockingham, a son of the late Hugh Gilbert McLean and Josie O’Brien McLean. Mr. McLean was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a long time member of Zion United Methodist church, where he served in many capacities. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II. Mr. McLean was a Master Mason and worked many years with his brother at Don’s Meat Center in Rockingham. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, October 29th at Zion United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Ray Brooks with Masonic rites to follow the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are his wife of sixty four years, Rebekah Nichols McLean; daughter, Mary Jo M. Taylor and husband Edward; grandson, Christopher Scott Boyette and wife Amanda of Chelsea, AL; great grand daughter, Faith Boyette; brother, R. Carol McLean of Rockingham; and sister in law, Ann Nichols Hinton of Lake Lure, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. McLean was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Vincent McLean and two sisters, Margaret Jane McLean and Thesil Idell M. Davis. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
