Charles Luther McInnis

Charles Luther McInnis, 85, of Ellerbe, completed his earthly journey on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Born October 23, 1937 in Richmond County, he was a son of the late Willie and Jessie Rush McInnis. Charles McInnis was a man of faith, a devoted husband to Margaret for over 62 years, loving father, grandfather & great grandfather.  Learning the carpentry trade from his Uncle, Charles eventually started his own home building company serving many clients in the local area for 39+ years.  As a well-respected, highly sought after contractor, he did not just build “houses", he created “homes" for the families he served.  Charles always participated in his church giving of his time and talent wherever the need arose. He was dry witted and was rarely found without a smile to share with those around him. Charles was such a kind gentle soul taken away from his family way too soon by the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease. Now reunited with his bride Margaret eight days after her passing, the family takes comfort in knowing he is with his Margaret, his Savior and his mind & body restored. To God be the glory.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Reynolds McInnis and by siblings, Bobby McInnis, Reece McInnis and Louise Jordan.

Surviving are his children, Jeff McInnis (Tina) and Pam Wackerhagen (Jerry); grandchildren, Joshua McInnis, Kayla McInnis, Carley Grooms (Joe), and Maggie Opitz (Connor); great grandchildren, Samuel and Eli Grooms; and sisters, Betty Jean Jenkins and Cathy Greene.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Ellerbe Cemetery with Rev. Dr. James Brown officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
