E. Evon Craven

Edison Evon Craven, 90, of Ellerbe, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mr. Craven was born December 24, 1930 in Richmond County, a son of the late Artis Banks and Minnie Lee Warner Craven. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and treasurer and for many years served on the Ellerbe Town Council. He retired from JP Stevens Carpet Mill in Aberdeen and had farmed for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Holder Craven, sons, Larry Evon and Gary Edison Craven, brothers, John, Dolan, Harold and Farrell Craven and sisters, Mildred Hall and Cecile Bruton.

Surviving are his children, Mike Craven (Susan), Tony Craven (Angie) and Sandra Futrell (Ted); grandchildren, Kevin Craven, Carey Craven, Ashley Craven, Aaron Craven, Jesse Futrell (Bryce), Wessley Futrell (Mary Madison), Shannon Futrell and Crystal Garrett; 5 great grandchildren and sister, Marie Robinson.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm Friday at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. James Watson officiating. Please feel free to bring a lawn chair to the service. The family will greet friends following the service.
